Grupo Segura

Grupo Segura acquires German group Kohl Automotive Group

  • The acquisition allows the Valencian multinational to advance its strategy of inorganic growth and sustainability, and to move closer to production centers in order to reduce the carbon footprint of its operations.

  • The 500 employees of the German group will become part of Grupo Segura, which now has a total of 1,600 employees.

This morning, Grupo Segura announced the recent acquisition of part of the German group Kohl Automotive, comprising Kohl Automotive GmbH, Kohl Automotive Treuenbrietzen GmbH, and Kohl Automotive Eisenach GmbH. This group is dedicated to metal stamping and the assembly of automotive components, as well as their commercialization, and fits perfectly with Grupo Segura’s traditional business.

This transaction follows the recent acquisition of Plastic Omnium’s metal division in Vigo, which is dedicated to metal stamping and assembly. With the acquisition of the German Kohl Automotive Group, Segura strengthens its presence as a global supplier, reinforces its inorganic growth, and reaffirms its commitment to sustainability.

In this regard, sources at Grupo Segura confirm that “this acquisition is in line with our strategy of pursuing inorganic growth and becoming a global supplier for our customers, locating our plants close to them in order to fulfill our commitment to sustainability.” “Bringing our production centers closer to our customers’ needs allows us to meet the decarbonization commitments of the automotive and mobility sector and reduce our carbon footprint.”

It should be noted that by 2050, vehicle production must be fully sustainable and, as confirmed by the Valencian multinational, “both production and the entire production and value chain, from logistics suppliers to level 3 suppliers, will have to comply with total decarbonization, and it is very important that companies prepare for this challenge.”

International strategy:

According to the same sources, the acquisition of this German group also aims to “strengthen our presence in Europe, increase our customer and product portfolio, and establish production centers in Germany, as it is a country of great importance in the sector. Likewise, Grupo Segura has assured that, as part of its strategic plan initiatives, “we seek to incorporate inorganic growth with the aim of increasing new customers and turnover, moving closer to the production plants of these customers and taking advantage of the organizational structure built up over recent years to carry out this initiative.”

With this acquisition, Grupo Segura hopes to gain access to vehicle manufacturers in Germany, one of Europe’s leading producers. It also allows Segura to cover a large national territory and supply its parts to the main automotive companies in central and northern Europe.

Staff expansion:

With this acquisition of the Kohl Automotive group, a total of 500 employees are also joining Grupo Segura. Segura will thus reach a total of 1,600 employees and 10 production plants: five in Almussafes (Spain), two in Vigo (Spain), one in Szolnok (Hungary), and two in Germany (Treuenbrietzen and Eisenach), in addition to its headquarters in Paterna (Spain).

The group’s estimated turnover with the new addition will be around €330 million.
