The company strengthens its industrial competitiveness by bringing online a new solar self-consumption installation at its Hungary plant, capable of avoiding more than 3,500 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.
Hungary. –Grupo Segura continues to advance its sustainability strategy with the full commissioning of the photovoltaic installation located on the rooftop of its Szolnok production facility. This project marks another significant step in the company’s energy transition, aimed at increasing the use of clean energy sources and enhancing the efficiency of its industrial operations.
The addition of this infrastructure helps reduce the environmental impact associated with manufacturing activities while reinforcing the Group’s commitment to increasingly responsible production. At a time when sustainability has become a key requirement for leading automotive manufacturers and their supply chains, Grupo Segura continues to strengthen its position as a strategic partner capable of combining innovation, competitiveness, and environmental responsibility.
This initiative forms part of the company’s long-term vision, focused on the decarbonization of its industrial processes and the creation of sustainable value for its customers, actively contributing to global emission reduction and energy efficiency objectives.
A measurable contribution to decarbonization and environmental performance
This first phase of the installation has been designed to seamlessly integrate into the plant’s industrial ecosystem, maximizing energy utilization and reducing dependence on external power sources:
- Installed capacity: 590 kWp.
- Infrastructure: 1,000 state-of-the-art photovoltaic panels.
- Solar coverage area: 2,600 m² of technical rooftop coverage.
Reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is a top priority across the automotive value chain. With this photovoltaic plant now fully operational, Grupo Segura will prevent the emission of more than 3,500 tonnes of CO₂ over the next 25 years.
To put the positive impact of this energy transition into perspective, the projected results are equivalent to:
- 129,831 trees absorbing CO₂ (based on an average absorption rate of 27 kg of CO₂ per tree per year).
- Avoiding emissions equivalent to 35,054,315 km travelled by a standard passenger vehicle.
- Offsetting the annual electricity consumption of approximately 4,000 households.

This new photovoltaic installation further strengthens Grupo Segura’s commitment to a more efficient and environmentally responsible industrial model.
